JGMMA Premier Kids 5-7 and 8-12 program
JUNIORS -Our Little Champions (5 years – 7 years of age) and our Junior Martial Arts (8 years of age – 12 years of age) program were designed specially for children in those specific age groups. We realize that children in each of these groups have specific characteristics that differ from children younger and older than them. Each group has their own range of development and characteristics. With these design each group can benefit from a more specific type of training that will help them develop the best; physically, intellectually, emotionally, and socially.
The stages of development for children have been extensively studied. Research targeted advanced skills that children of these age groups are in the process of developing primary skills and characteristics. At John Geyston’s Mixed Martial Arts we have uniquely divided that research into what we define as 6 characteristics of a champion and the 12 life skills of excellence.
In our Little Champions and Junior Karate program your child will learn and grow in a process that accommodates their skills and abilities. They will train with other children in their age group, and not have to be distracted by younger or older classmates. This means that their training will not be slowed down due to the learning abilities of a younger child; and it will not be sped up to keep up with the capabilities of pre-teens. This means better, more functional classes designed just for them. Your child will feel comfortable and more capable of achieving excellence. They are at an age where the more special they feel, the harder they will try. With that in mind, welcome to the difference at John Geyston’s Mixed Martial Arts.
We use the martial arts approach to building their skills through these drills. The approach includes reinforcing good discipline, displaying confidence, and maintaining a positive attitude. Technical martial arts training is very limited when it comes to traditional moves and techniques; we reserve that portion of development for the older children who have set a clear foundation of what we consider the preliminary requirements to martial arts training.
With this in mind, we want to reinforce that martial arts training extends way beyond kicking and punching. That’s why it may appear that your child is not learning enough martial arts in class, but the fact is they really are. The customary discipline protocol is martial arts. This includes standing at attention when commanded, responding with respect by saying “yes sir” and “yes ma’am”, bowing in respect and courtesy, maintaining a positive attitude. With a professional Martial Artist as the role-model and the mixture of fun games and activities with basic kicks, strikes, and blocks during class, your child’s first exposure to martial arts training will generate results!
Are you ready to have your child become a leader?
